The Threat of Nature's Lure

With Ascension Day behind us, we move further into the sensuous nature of spring. Now we risk being carried away, so to speak, by the beauty that surrounds us and ascending ourselves before we are adequately prepared. Luciferic beings tempt us to join in the rising of spiritual forces that weave forcefully through the world. With his gift of sensual thinking and feeling, we would extinguish ourselves like moths to a flame. We are at risk of "losing our minds" in the beauty of nature that surrounds us.

With the Mystery of Golgotha and Christ's ascension, it is now possible for us to ground ourselves here on earth. Through Anthroposophy and the Holy Spirit we can anchor ourselves in the Christ who joined Himself to the etheric realm of the earth. We do this through a kind of prescience or heart-felt thinking (Ahnen) that centers and balances us. In this way, we may develop ourselves more fully before rising into the spiritual realms.

Practice the Calendar verses to entrain with the rhythms of the seasons. Together, we will radiate these forces out into society through our moral words and deeds of brotherly love.

Rudolf Steiner's verses for the 52 weeks of the calendar are here on our website, together with Rudolf Steiner's original German text and several other translations: Rudolf Steiner, The Calendar of the Soul.
